Copyright Photographs
Photographs that are copyrighted or have a studio name imprint will not be copied or printed without the written permission of the copyright holder or maker.
Acceptance of Orders
Servicing our regular customers is of the utmost importance. Therefore, we reserve the right to refuse any work that creates unusual, abnormal or seasonal overloads.
North American Photo has specialty services that are used occasionally by full-service studios, i.e. custom prints, art, mounting, etc. Customers who "overload" these departments or use these specialty services only, will be notified that we will no longer accept their orders.
Negative retouching, art and digital services will be performed only for regular customers.
Acceptance of new customers is subject to seasonal fluctuations.
Boudoir photography orders are accepted. However, orders with photographs showing genitalia and/or nudity which we consider offensive will be returned not printed (in whole or in part).
Film Types and Sizes
We offer processing and printing services for Kodak and Fuji professional films in 120, 220 and 70mm formats only. Please submit orders with different film types ( Kodak NC, VC, Fuji. NHG and NPS etc.) in separate job envelopes. Orders submitted with mixed film types will be split when received.
Exposure
Properly exposed negatives yield the best quality prints. For proper exposure, consult the data sheet that comes with the film.
As an aid to obtaining proper negative density, we print exposure, in f-stops (±) on the back of each Original (proof). This allows you to check the exposure of every negative under actual working conditions.
If you are still in doubt as to the exact guide number or ISO/ASA rating you should be using, expose a roll of film as follows: Photograph a subject holding a gray card at eight feet from the light using the full range of f-stops in one stop increments. Record which frames correspond with the proper f-stops. We will process your film, densimetrically evaluate it, indicate the correct exposure, and return it to you. This service is provided to our customers at no charge.
Mixed Orders
For faster service and better quality, we ask that you do not mix film sizes, film types, negative formats, or different service lines within the same job envelope. However, we do allow mixing quantity and custom services with any other line, except in prom/team or proofing orders.
Other than prints that are 11 X 14 and larger, we will not texture or spray different finishes on the same print size within an order. Please split your orders so that all prints of the same size receive the same texturing and spray treatment. If this is not possible, submit your order to comply with this policy, then return the prints in separate envelopes, indicating the different surface treatments for each. Orders not complying with this requirement will be returned without surface treatment.
Dust Spotting
Except as noted under some service lines, all prints are production print spotted. This means that you should see no dust spots on the main point of interest in prints from North American and only occasional small spots in the background. We will not accept responsibility for spotting dirt or dust on negatives processed by other labs, handled outside of North American Photo, or caused by negative retouching by outside sources.
Incorrect Service Selection
If a service is requested that is not available on the desired service line, it is our policy to change the entire order to the next least-expensive line.
